I liked that I can go my own pace on this course. I also liked that it's a book study because I really enjoy reading. The content was engaging and interesting. It made me think and gave me new ideas to try although it's not plausible to do all 101 things. I enjoyed learning about the RCA and even watched the movie that was based on his life. I like that I could easily work on the class anywhere and even from my phone although the quizzes did show up too small and needed to be zoomed in to read. I would recommend this class to others, and I already have recommended this course to two other colleagues who are also working on renewing their teaching certificates.

This was my favorite book I have read so far. I really enjoyed this and I would recommend this class to many. I thought the story was inspiring and it has really helped change the ways I would like to teach in the classroom.
Ron Clark does a great job creating an instructional aid book that gives teachers a plethora of resources. I have read Kim Bearden's book, "Talk to Me", so I have become pretty well versed on the RCA. Clark does a good job motivating and inspiring teachers to be passionate and energetic as to best meet the needs of students. Many of his ideas are not only practical but pragmatic, looking at positives and hurdles. I would like to try some of his ideas in having students positively cheer and motivate each other. I found the last chapter to be more attune to administration and school culture. I plan on offering my principal this section to perhaps deal with a few situations we now face as a school.
Honestly, I think the book is showing its age a little. There are a lot of good ideas in here that are still solid, but the world feels different to me. I don’t know if it’s because I’m older now. Or maybe if it’s just post-Covid talking as an educator? Perhaps we just haven’t fully recovered yet. But we are entering a new tech age fifteen years later as 2026 emerges. This book came out in 2011 which means many of his experiences are from back when I was in undergraduate. That’s a long time ago.
Kids don’t change exactly, but the constraints on them from the world and adults do. Technology changes. AI is here now. Maybe it’s time for him to re-write this. Where is RCA now? How has their story changed over the years? How has he changed as an educator? Has he become one of the tenured people he hated? Or at least has he been dulled by time and use? (I’m focusing in on Odysseus there in “Ulysses” if any of you English teachers caught it.)
We all change over time. I’d be interested to do a second book study on an updated education theory from him and see how he has evolved.
I have to be honest - this book was LONG and a bit extreme for me, it took a bit longer to plod through. Some stories were a bit long and drawn out. I went into it pretty blind, but figured I'd give it a try - even if it had an overly "rosy" outlook. I liked the parts that reminded parents about not listening to their lying kids (LOL) and trusting teachers when things come up that we have to ask parents for support on regarding their kids behavior. Overall, the concept of the school is pretty neat, and I applaud Ron Clark for having the audacity and energy to do such a thing! Me? I could never.
I really enjoyed this book study. I felt it really aligned with what I think and believe teaching should be. It re-inspired me to be that goofy teacher, to make the connections, to push my students, and to increase movement in my room. I would love to observe RCA classes. It would continue my inspiration for teaching. I would definitely recommend this book to colleagues.

i did enjoy this book & this book study. i would recommend this read to fellow colleagues. I love the high energy and dedication that ron clark brings to his classroom, to his academy and to his staff. it's difficult to completely put his ideas into a useful perspective - as he has created a private academy & i am a public servant & truly love being a public school educator. His ideas however (at least most of them) are about always trying to do what is best for our students - and any/all of us can do that in whatever sort of educational setting we work in.
I really like the concept of the school. I am curious now how RCA has changed over the 15 years since the book was written. I feel like social media, Covid, and technology advancements have changed the learning environments for the good and the bad. I would recommend this book to coworkers, I just wish there was an updated version to address the things we see and deal with today.
Once again, this is another great book offered as a book study class. I love the energy from Ron Clark and appreciated how the book not only applies to my life as a teacher, but also as a mom. There are so many great concepts and takeaways that can make daily living so much more enjoyable. I also found this book to be so inspiring to want to get back in the classroom and form the great connections with students and staff again. I would 100% recommend this book to some of my colleagues!
I did not enjoy this course as much as the others. It was my second least favorite. Ron Clark has brilliant ideas and is inspiring, but the book read as a manual of things that will stay out of reach for nearly every educator out here. I loved his drive and creativity and willingness to throw his whole life into his work. He is doing amazing things but too much of the book seemed impractical. I though he also crossed the line on more than one occasion as far as appropriateness with students. Decorating the girls bathroom with heart throbs, carrying students into the school, late night home visits were all red flags. I would not recommend this book course as readily as the others. I do enjoy these courses.
Please post your thoughts about this course below. What did you like about it? What didn’t you like about it? Would you recommend this book study to a colleague? I would highly recommend this course and the book is an inspiration for every teacher. I feel a renewed passion for my profession and will be encouraging others to become teachers. Teaching can be difficult and time consuming but also rewarding. Ron has a great approach to raising expectations and passion. I am moving to a new classroom and I am excited to make it welcoming and inviting. This course was just what I needed to reignite me.
I liked that this course provided opportunities to reflect on my teaching practices and encouraged me to think outside the box. I also enjoyed the TED Talks paired with each chapter, which made the concepts more engaging and relatable. I would definitely recommend this book study to a colleague.
This is probably my favorite book study thus far. I was so impressed with Ron Clark and just the motivation and enthusiasm he brings. He book kept me hooked and honestly boost my energy for these last three months of school. I also love that this course is self-paced and I don't have to try and have everything done by a certain time. (Definitely helpful when I am a mom to 3 kids under 3!) I will absolutely be recommending this book to a colleague.
I really enjoyed this book study. I listened to the book as well as reading it. It was narrated by Ron Clark and his personality is infectious. I love his involvement in the lives of the students both academically and personally. I would recommend this to a colleague in a heartbeat.
I liked that it was a book study and I could do on my own time. I have been sitting in the Mayo Clinic for a week, and this has been a great way to pass my time. It gave me other ideas to think about and was very uplifting.
Yes, I would recommend this book study to others. I am always anxious when I start a class and this one went so smoothly and positive.
It would be awesome to teach at a school like this however I think you would burn out fast. It is a dream world and it's great Ron can get it done. If a person had a family, I don't see how. The book still offers great suggestions to take away. Also, as I read there was definitely disciple and consequences that were met. School wide discipline is something our school did not have.
Would I have liked my child in this classroom, yes.
I liked this book study, but of all of them that I have completed it was not my favorite. Of course, there are many great ideas and Ron Clark is a very inspirational person, it's just that some of the ideas do really seem so far out of reach, even for those who are positive and dreamers. I wish that all the things talked about could be implemented. I do appreciate that it has made me think outside of the box and keep dreaming. I would recommend this book and book study to others.
I liked the ideas in this book. I was impressed with Ron Clark's dedication to his students. However, he said it best, he probably would not be quite as invested in his school if he had kids of his own. His endeavors are very time consuming and amazing. I just don't see them as realistic for the average teacher.
He does do several things like teaching parents how to help students study and do homework that are definitely within reason and only require time from teachers and parents- and students. I do intend to give several techniques a try.
Great book. Yes, I would recommend this book study.
This is definitely a top book. I want to go to RCA so badly now!!! I love that he wants to push his students, not "push them through with good grades that aren't deserved".
This was a great book study that offered many inspiring ideas for educators to implement in their routine in the classroom. The discussions were applicable to the topic and helped us dive more in depth to the authors main point. Overall, this was very organized and well-put together.
I enjoyed this book. I felt that is was applicable to my classroom and left me reflecting on how I can be a better educator. I would recommend this book study.
I enjoyed the book and would love to incorporate things that Ron Clark mentions but I feel like it's a little over the top at RCA and not all ideas can be accomplished in your own schools. Some things are just out of a teacher's control but I do like the idea of controlling and making the best of the things that I do have control of as an educator. Still pitching the idea of a slide to my admin.
Overall, I found this course very relevant and useful for me and my current teaching and coaching roles. I appreciated how many of the ideas tied directly to classroom culture, student engagement, and building relationships, all of which are essential in education today and difficult to solve so have so many fresh ideas and perspective was helpful. I also thought the TED Talk videos were a great addition, as they complemented the readings and helped reinforce the key themes in a real-world context. I would definitely recommend this book study to a colleague, especially for educators looking to strengthen classroom culture and increase student engagement.
