  5. Hi everyone! I’m Jeff Schneider from South Dakota, and I’m excited to join this End of Molasses Classes book study. Teaching runs in my family—both of my parents were educators, and this year marks my 31st year in education.
I’ve taught everything from kindergarten PE to high school science and college teacher-ed courses. My passion lies in STEM education, design thinking, and inquiry-based learning, helping students and teachers rediscover curiosity through hands-on problem solving. After six years with the PAST Foundation in Columbus, Ohio, I’m back home teaching high school science in Estelline, SD, while also supporting DIAL online learners.
Outside school, I officiate basketball, enjoy live music, build things in my woodshop, and read anything that helps me understand how learning really happens. I’m looking forward to connecting with all of you and exploring Ron Clark’s ideas for “getting our kids unstuck” and reigniting a love for learning!

  15. My name is Amanda Neville, and I am a School Counselor at Brookings High School. Our high school serves students in grades 9 through 12 and has right around twelve hundred students. I have been a School Counselor for twenty-one years, and this is my fourteenth year here at Brookings High School. It has been a place where I have grown right alongside the students I work with, and I am grateful for the chance to support so many different personalities and paths. I truly enjoy being part of the academic, personal, and social-emotional pieces of a student’s journey. No two days look the same, and that is something I appreciate. It keeps me learning, listening, and connecting in ways that feel meaningful. Outside of work, I value my time with family more than anything. The simple moments tend to be the ones that matter most. I try to stay present for them because, as the saying goes, the days are long but the years are short. The older everyone gets, the more I find that to be true.

  18. Jayme Freese here - haven't been in the classroom in a few years, but doing this to keep up with my certification. This book sounded interesting and caught my attention, so I'm curious to see what it is all about and see what kinds of things I can put into practice in my profession currently.
